I recently noticed myself thinking, "I'll just do I recently noticed myself thinking, "I'll just do this and then I'll sit down and relax".

And then the next day..."I'll just email this client and then I'll finish working for the day." *2 hours later still working*

And the next "I'll just check my DM's one last time and then I'll stop and turn my phone off."

Now I know what you're thinking...

"That's normal, I have those kinds of thoughts and do those those kinds of things all the time" 
 
But this cycle of thinking (and action-taking) leads to what I like to call "I'll be happy when thinking". 

Let me explain...

Have you caught yourself thinking about your future and believing that you'll be happy once it unfolds? 

For instance, you might think I'll be happy when...
👉 I have enough money
👉 when I lose weight
Or in my case 
👉 when I get through this phase and I'm not so busy.

In these fantasies, we often picture our current life amplified by our desires. 
And it feels pretty damn good. 

However, the reality is that achieving those desires often requires sacrifices — eating out less, dealing with emotional eating, spending money on a health practitioner, saying no more often, having less time with loved ones — all of which have an associated cost to them.

When you take the time to step back and view your life with a wider lens, you might see that what you have right now is truly special. And that you don't need to peg your happiness into the future.

I, like many of my clients, inherently seek growth. So I'm not implying that you need to settle for stagnation or mediocrity. Instead, I encourage you to also embrace the joy that's already present in your life regardless of the goals, dreams and aspirations you have for the future.

Because when you understand that it’s ok to let yourself be happy right now, with what is in your perfectly, imperfect life, everything changes.
